This post is not about Bob’s Burgers

Bob’s Burgers is a relatively new show by Fox that came out last year. But knowing my TV-less state here, I never caught up with it until a few days ago. I just got up from my post-dinner nap and saw my roommate in the living room watching something on his laptop. I saw this one episode and got hooked.

You can check out the show on Netflix, cause I’m not here to talk specifically about Bob’s Burgers.

Of course, the initial credit goes to The Simpsons for maintaining the idea of a family-cartoon show. And kudos to The Simpsons for becoming the longest running family-cartoon show (or whatever the genre is called).

Even though I find The Simpsons really funny, over the years it has become a little stale. What  totally revolutionized this space was The Family Guy. The random and edgy humor caught the audience by surprise. The show went on and off the air so many times and constantly created ruckus with its humor.

The Family Guy opened up writers’ minds to a myriad of possibilities in animated humor. You could argue Southpark has been out there longer and is edgy. But a show like Southpark has the tendency to get disgusting almost every episode.

Just my two cents.
